Job Description
This role is with a leading workplace strategy, design, and build firm, dedicated to transforming work environments into exceptional spaces for both people and businesses. The company delivers a bespoke, end-to-end service, quickly understanding client needs to design and implement industry-leading solutions. Their commitment extends to providing an uplifting client experience by fostering joy, purpose, belief, and connections through innovative spaces and relationships. The Furniture Consultant plays a crucial role within the furniture team, which is responsible for furnishing workspaces that cater to diverse client requirements. While varied, the primary function of this position is to secure furniture contracts for new clients, managing both large and small projects. This involves a comprehensive approach, from initial client engagement and brief taking through to project handover to the management team. Key responsibilities include developing and executing sales strategies to maximize opportunities and convert them into furniture sales orders. The successful candidate will possess a deep understanding of workplace strategy, current trends, and future thinking, along with extensive knowledge of the commercial furniture marketplace, including manufacturers, agents, and dealer networks. They will manage the entire sales lifecycle, encompassing product selection, showroom visits, specification, and sign-off, while also being adept at negotiating maximum discounts and favorable payment terms to ensure profitable returns and positive cash flow. Furthermore, the Consultant will be responsible for cultivating strong relationships with manufacturers, proactively networking with business providers to secure direct business, and seeking reciprocal opportunities within the design & build sector. Post-installation audits, detailed cost planning, and maintaining safety policies related to furniture supply and installation are also integral to the role, alongside weekly sales reporting to track live opportunities and prospects.
Requirements
  • Assessing all furniture opportunities and establishing a sales strategy to secure the maximum number of opportunities and convert these into furniture sales orders.
  • An understanding of workplace strategy, trends and future thinking with an ability to explain, discuss and review working practices in the office.
  • Knowledge of the commercial furniture marketplace – the manufacturers, agents and dealer network.
  • Preparing all sales and marketing pitch documentation required to secure orders.
  • Managing the complete sales process from meeting the client and taking the brief to handover to our project management team. This will include product selection and showroom visits, together with product specification and ultimately sign off specification and timescales.
  • Responsibility for maintaining relationships with a core base of furniture manufacturers in order to provide a depth of product range sufficient to service clients.
  • Obtaining maximum discounts from all manufacturers and negotiating one-off discounts with manufacturers where substantial volumes of business are placed in one order.
  • Determining pricing policy to maximise profit returns on all sales opportunities.
  • Market the corporate furniture identity separate from the company brand.
  • Networking sources of business providers (ie project managers etc), to obtain quality direct business for the furniture division, and also seeking out reciprocal design & build fit-out and refurbishment opportunities which can be passed on to other Group Companies.
  • Providing a post-installation audit to ensure furniture specification, installation and furniture quality meet with client expectations.
  • Agreeing furniture payment terms from clients which are more favourable than manufacturer’s payment terms, and at all times maintaining positive cash flow on projects.
  • Responsibility for producing detailed cost plans for each furniture order to enable full profit reconciliation on a line-by-line basis.
  • Review and maintain safety policy related to supply and installation of Office Furniture.
  • On a weekly basis submit a sales report showing live opportunities and all other prospects which have been either lost/declined or are still to be pitched.
Benefits

  • Option to opt into Company Funded Private Medical Insurance
  • Entitlement to 1 x salary Life Assurance cover
